Description
This is an early 14th century timber-framed single aisle barn located 45 metres east of Fitzjohns Farm. It consists of five bays and was repaired towards the end of the same century, with one end rebuilt later. The exterior is weatherboarded and features a hipped tiled roof. There is a central hipped roof midstrey portal flanked by outshuts. Inside, the barn is a well-preserved example of high-quality farm architecture. The aisle is at the rear, where both the ruin span and aisle top plate have splayed and tabled scarf joints. The trout wall and top plate also have scarfed splayed and bridle butted joints. The queen post roof includes knee bracing and curved braced side purlins, rising from the lofty wall and aisle posts. The original midstrey frame and roof remain intact.
