Description

77 Brentwood Road is a mid-19th century house that has been extended in the 20th century. It features a timber frame and weatherboarded exterior, with a facade made of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond and a slate roof. The house has a double-pile plan facing northeast and includes two internal stacks that are symmetrically arranged. To the right, there is a single-storey extension from the 20th century, which has a hipped slate roof. At the rear center, there is a 19th-century wing that was originally one storey but has been raised to two storeys, along with a large two-storey extension added in 1966, which is weatherboarded and has a flat roof.

On the ground floor, there are two original sash windows with 6+6 lights, featuring flat brick arches, painted reveals, and handmade glass. The first floor has three similar sash windows. A central glazed porch with a moulded pediment and a glazed door is located at the front. There is one additional similar sash window on the ground floor of the left elevation and another on the first floor of the rear elevation. The house has a hipped roof. The land was enclosed in 1842, and the house is believed to have been built in 1846. In 1988, all the sash windows were renovated, preserving the original frames, sashes, and glass while only replacing the fillets between the two sashes of each window and adding draught-proof seals.
