Description

This is a terrace of four attached houses located on Queens Road, built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings and a slate roof. The terrace faces northwest on a sloping site; numbers 1 and 3 are at one level, while numbers 5 and 7 are situated on the higher level. There are two internal chimney stacks at each end of the terrace and two more at each party wall. Rear extensions dating to the 19th and 20th centuries are present.

Each house has two storeys. The ground floor features a large, original sash window with six over six lights, set within a stucco surround and a moulded cornice. The first floor has two original sashes with six over three lights, featuring a roll-moulded stucco surround and a projecting key. All the front doors are four-panelled, with the upper panels glazed on numbers 1, 3, and 5. Each door is topped by a fanlight with simple geometric tracery, all recessed within moulded stucco architraves and semicircular arches. Numbers 1 and 5 have two stone steps leading to the recessed porches, while numbers 3 and 7 have one stone step. All porches have stone paving. The roofs are hipped with a shallow pitch and wide overhanging eaves. The front elevations are remarkably original and intact.
