Description

This is a house, now used as a shop with offices above, dating back to the 17th century, with later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. A rear extension from the 20th century is not part of the listing. The building has a timber-frame construction with plaster walls and a peg-tiled roof. The north-facing front elevation is simple, featuring a parapet with a wooden cornice and a shop headboard with brackets that extend to the adjacent properties at numbers 110 and 110a. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front, featuring a window with five glazed panes and a matching shop door. A further 20th-century door has been inserted into a 19th-century doorway at the east end, with two glazed panels allowing access to the upper floors. The first floor has two simple sash windows dating to the early 20th century. The interior has been heavily altered, but sections of the original 17th-century timber frame are still visible on the first floor, running parallel to the street. The attic contains principal roof trusses with tenoned and pegged collars, positioned high to allow for attic use.
