Description

INGATESTONE AND FRYERNING TL60SW BLACKMORE ROAD 723-1/2/348 (South side) Icehouse 60 metres north-west of St Leonards GV II Icehouse.Early Cl9- Red brick in header bond. Minor alterations for use as an air raid.shelter,. c1939, include a concrete and iron door- frame at the entrance, and a concrete floor about 0.50m below ground level; an iron door is lying loose inside. Entrance tunnel missing, replaced by C20 low retaining walls. A rock garden has been made over the brick -dome, c1988. Shown on First, Second and Third Editions of the 1/2500 OS map from 1874. Probably contemporary with the associated house St Leonards (qv).
