Description
This barn, located 31 meters south of Lincolns in Pilgrims Hatch, dates back to the 17th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is weather-boarded on a brick dwarf wall, with some remaining 17th-century brickwork. The roof is covered with peg tiles. The barn is rectangular and consists of five bays, with a central midstrey and an original projecting waggon porch on the north side. There is a simple door opening on the south side.
Inside, the barn has principal trusses with straight tie-beams and curved arched braces. The roof is of the joggled side purlin type, which is butted to the principal rafters. The common rafters are also butted and pegged to the purlins, with collars and curved raking queen struts supporting the principals. The wall framing is made of primary braced studding with joggled side girts. The barn is entirely original, showing no extensive repair work. It, along with the stable and Lincolns, forms a group of buildings.
