Description

This barn, located approximately 8 metres south of Russell's Farmhouse, dates back to the early 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The structure consists of four bays aligned northwest to southeast and is adjacent to an early 16th century ancillary building to the northwest. Notable architectural features include jowled posts, curved braces that are trenched inside the studs, and arched braces to the tiebeams that have been replaced by bolted knees. The wallplates exhibit face-halved and bladed scarfs, and the roof is designed with clasped purlins.
