Description
This is a wall that extends approximately 65 metres south-west from the west corner of All Saints churchyard. It dates from the 16th century and was raised in the 18th or 19th century. The wall is constructed of red brick in both English bond and Flemish stretcher bond, and it forms the boundary between Terling Green and Terling Place. There is a wicket gate located about 3 metres from the northeast end, and a blocked gateway near the middle. The wall stands approximately 3 metres high and is 0.46 metres thick at the base, tapering to mainly 0.33 metres thick. The brick coping has been renewed. This wall is depicted on an estate map by John Walker from 1597, indicating it was part of the boundary wall of an orchard to the southeast of the mansion then owned by Sir Thomas Mildmay. It is included for its group value.
