Description

This boundary stone, located approximately 275 metres east of The Gardener's Cottage in Marks Hall, dates from the 18th to early 19th century. Made of limestone, it has a rectangular shape that tapers slightly towards the top and features a slightly curved top. The stone has incised Roman lettering about 6 centimeters high, with "TP" on the southwest face and "MHP" on the northeast face, marking the former boundary between Great Tey Parish and Marks Hall Parish. The stone stands at a height of approximately 0.76 metre and is noted on the 1842 tithe map of Marks Hall parish, held at the Essex Record Office.
