Description
Lodge Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame, plastered in parts, and features some painted brick. The roof is covered with handmade red plain tiles. At the rear, there is a wing that used to project outwards, known as jettied, with ranges to the east and west that predate 1550. There are lean-to extensions on the south and east sides. The building has two storeys and cellars, along with a single storey.
The north front has a four-window range of 20th-century casements and a simple pedimented canopy over the door. The south elevation features sash windows with glazing bars, including one 18th-century horizontal sash and two 20th-century casements. Inside, much of the timber frame is exposed, showcasing stop-chamfered bridging beams and original door and window openings. There is a wood-burning hearth from the 16th century and crownpost roofs from the 15th and 16th centuries. The house contains numerous doors from the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries. The property is situated on a moated site.
