Description

This building is a coach house dating from the 18th century, located 10 metres north-west of Marks Hall Cottages. It has a timber frame that is weatherboarded and plastered, standing on a red brick base wall, and is topped with a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The coach house features four bays facing southeast and is attached at the right end to a 19th-century brick building that has been altered in the 20th century, which is not included in this listing.

The southeast side has three double doors for vehicles and a blocked narrower arch to the right of them, all with semi-circular heads. The roof is half-hipped at the left end. The left end displays jowled posts and heavy framing, while the rear has lighter studding with primary straight bracing. The four arches are well framed in compassed timber, with bolted knees to the straight tie beams. The roof structure includes clasped purlins. The weatherboarding on the rear is original feather-edged hardwood that has been tarred, while the boarding on the left end is made of softwood. The front of the building is plastered, and the base wall is approximately 0.50 metre high at the rear.
