Description
The garden wall, located approximately 30 metres south-west of Toppinghoe Hall, dates from the late 16th and 17th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in both English bond and Flemish stretcher bond. The wall runs in a north-east to south-west direction and is about 9 metres long, forming the south-east side of a garage. From the south-west end, an additional section extends approximately 36 metres to the south-east. The first part of the wall is about 2 metres high and dates from the late 16th century, contemporary with Toppinghoe Hall. The second section is approximately one metre high, has been reduced from its original height, lacks a coping, features a chamfered plinth made of moulded brick, and includes a blocked gateway; this part is from the 17th century.
