Description

Nos 68 and 70 on South Street are a late 18th-century front that likely belongs to an earlier timber-framed and plastered building. The structure features a double-gabled wing that extends south at the rear and stands two storeys tall. The north front has a four-window range with double-hung sashes that lack glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The rear includes horizontal sliding sashes and casements with glazing bars. A six-panel door is framed by a wooden doorcase topped with a shell hood supported by cut brackets. The roofs are tiled. Nos 66 to 70, along with New Mills, form a group.
