Description
Lapwing Cottages is a pair of cottages that were formerly a medieval hall house, dating from around 1550 or earlier, with 17th century and later additions and alterations. The cottages are timber framed and rough rendered, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof that extends to a lower level on the left side. They are single-storey with a rear wing and feature a two-window range of small paned sliding sashes. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a light above it and is sheltered by a flat canopy. There is an off-centre red brick chimney stack. Notably, heavily sooted medieval roof timbers remain in place beneath the later roof.
