Description

Cardinal's Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century, with alterations from the 17th century and later, and features a 19th-century red brick facade. The building has a timber frame and red plain tiled roofs. It consists of a main two-storey section on the left and a one-storey and attic section with a gabled dormer on the right, along with a rear wing. The first floor has three windows arranged in a 3:1 pattern, and the ground floor also has a 3:1 window arrangement, primarily featuring 19th-century three-light vertical sliding sash windows. There is a red tiled bay on the ground floor to the left and a red tiled gabled porch accessed by four steps. The door has two panels and two lights with a light above. A red brick chimney stack is located at the center of the main range and to the right of the right range.

Inside, the rear wall incorporates three re-used crenellated and heavily carved beams adorned with grape and foliar motifs, along with stop-chamfered beams and jowled storey posts. The floorboards are from the 16th or 17th century, and the doors are from the 18th century, complete with hinges and brass locks. The interior also features many notable 19th-century elements. Attached to the right wing at the rear is a 19th-century dairy that retains its original shelves, floor, drain, hamhooks, and an oak slab cream pan shelf, along with three original louvres with shutters. The house was once known as Carbonel's and was one of the three manors of Foxearth.
