Description

The Church of England School and School House of St Peter and St Paul, including the forecourt wall, is a 19th-century building with a stone-dressed lint clad exterior. It features an asymmetrical design with a red tiled roof comprising two ranges. The right range has two forward gabled, two-storey crosswings, and pierced ridge tiles. The left single-storey range has stone parapet verges.

A gabled porch on the left has a two-centred, two-order, chamfered arch opening with shafts that have foliate and animal capitals. The vertically boarded door beneath a two-centred arched head is topped with a cross at the gable apex. A stone-dressed buttress is located on the left return. To the right of the porch, there are two stone five-light windows with Gothic heads, accompanied by a buttress.

The central crosswing features steps leading to a two-centred arch doorway with a vertically boarded door adorned with ornate iron hinges. Above the transom windows on the ground floor is a segmental pointed arch, while the first floor has a stone two-light window with cusping and a quatrefoil above. A panelled, pointed head door is situated between the crosswings.

The right crosswing includes a gargoyle on the corbels, three stone ogee lights with cusping on the ground floor, and two matching lights on the first floor with a roundel above. Moulded rainwater heads are present, and there are two flint and stone-dressed chimney stacks, with the front stack featuring gargoyles and mouldings, while the rear is very worn. Additionally, there is a flint wall with moulded stone capping at the front of the building.
