Description

House. Dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, it was altered in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed, with roughcast rendering and a roof of handmade red clay tiles. The original 16th-century main range comprises two bays facing southeast, with an axial stack at the left end. A three-bay crosswing from the 17th century projects forward to the left, with an external stack on its right side. A single-storey extension from the 19th century is located at the front of the right end of the house, featuring a stack and creating a roughly 'H' shaped plan. A lean-to porch is set in the front right angle. The main range has one storey with attics, while the crosswing has two stories with attics.

The southwest elevation has, on the ground floor, one 19th-century sash window of 16 lights, and one 20th-century sash of 4 lights. On the first floor, there are two 20th-century sashes of 4 lights each. A boarded door is located in the front of the 20th-century lean-to porch. The roof is half-hipped, with a gambrel roof on the main range, also half-hipped. A 19th-century sash window of 16 lights is present in the left return (northwest) wall.

The main range has a large wood-burning hearth, which has been reduced to accommodate a 20th-century grate. It features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and plain joists of horizontal section, supported on pegged clamps. Jowled posts are located in both the main range and the crosswing. The gambrel roof of the main range is a 17th or 18th century replacement of the original pitched roof, while the 17th-century wing has a clasped purlin roof.
