Description
Little Codham Hall is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with extensions added in the early 19th century and 20th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the house is aligned northeast to southwest, with a crosswing to the southwest, creating a T-shaped layout. There is an early 19th-century parallel range to the southwest that faces southwest, featuring internal stacks at the junction and at the left end. The property also includes 20th-century single-storey extensions to the southeast and a garage to the northeast.
The house has two storeys and a three-window range of 20th-century sash windows. There are double half-glazed doors in a central recessed porch that has a moulded cornice supported by scrolled brackets, dating from the early 19th century. Both stacks have grouped diagonal shafts from the 19th century. Inside, there is an early 19th-century staircase in the central entrance hall, featuring a rosewood handrail and stick balusters. In the rear wing, there are stop-chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops. The interior above the ground floor was not inspected.
