Description
South Lodge is an early 19th-century house constructed from gault brick and covered with a slate roof. It has a square plan that faces northwest, featuring one chimney stack on the left return wall and another at the rear right. There is a single-storey wing extending from the left rear. The building stands two storeys tall and has a two-window range of original sashes with 16 lights, some of which contain crown glass. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set within a porch supported by two columns and framed by plain architraves, with a sash window of 12 lights above it. At the corners, there are giant brick pilasters. The low-pitched hipped roof has a long overhang and displays perforated floral patterns in the eaves boards. On the left return wall, there is an engraved stone tablet featuring 'Old English' lettering that reads 'I.S.S. 1829'.
