Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres south-east of Newney's Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated iron. The barn has three bays that run roughly north-south, featuring a midstrey to the west. There are lean-to extensions on both sides of the midstrey, which are roofed with red clay pantiles, and another lean-to at the north end that is also roofed with corrugated iron. The roof of the midstrey is half-hipped. The central bay has jowled posts, while the other posts are unjowled. The structure includes primary straight bracing and a clasped purlin roof with straight wind-bracing. The roof was originally thatched until around 1962. This barn is included for its group value.
