Description
This barn, located approximately 60 metres north-north-east of Boyton Hall, dates back to the 16th century and was extended in the 17th century. It features a timber frame, is weatherboarded, and has a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The structure consists of four bays aligned north-south, with two aisles and a midstrey to the west of the southern bay. In the 17th century, three additional bays were added to the south, with the aisle continuing at the rear for one bay only, and no aisle at the front. The barn has jowled posts in both sections. The earlier part showcases heavy studding with curved braces that are trenched to the inside, along with arched braces to the arcade plates and tiebeams. The southern part features primary straight bracing in the walls and arched braces to the tiebeams. Both roofs have been rebuilt to a lower pitch to accommodate the corrugated asbestos.
