Description

Black Barn is a barn located approximately 60 metres south of Place Farmhouse and adjacent to the road. It dates from the 16th or 17th century and is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn is aisled and likely consists of five bays. It features jowled storey posts, arched braces to the tie beams, and framed braces to the aisles. The roof is supported by side purlins, showcasing good quality construction. At the time of the survey, the barn was fully used for straw storage, limiting the view of its interior.
