Description
This is a barn located 20 meters north-west of Newbarns Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, covered in plaster and weatherboarding, and has a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The barn consists of five bays arranged in a north-west to south-east direction, with a midstrey on the south-west side. There is a lean-to extension in the southern angle that forms a catslide with the main roof, and another lean-to extension in the western angle, which is roofed with red clay corrugated tiles. There are later buildings nearby to the south-east and west that do not have special architectural or historic interest. The barn features a pegged main frame, primary straight bracing, bolted knees to the straight tiebeams, and a clasped purlin roof. It retains its original great doors and winnowing doors and is in exceptionally unaltered condition.
