Description

Spencer Grange is an 18th-century house that was restyled in the early 19th century. It features a stucco exterior on a brick structure and has a slate roof. The building has an approximately square plan with a recessed northeast elevation that serves as the entrance, while the garden elevation is to the southwest. There are four chimney stacks symmetrically placed around the house, and a service wing located to the northwest.

The house is two storeys high with attics and has a symmetrical front. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a rectangular light above it, featuring geometrical tracery, and there are double-hung sash windows with eight lights on each side. A colonnade spans the recess, supported by four fluted Greek Doric columns and an architrave. Above the entrance, in the recess, is a double-hung sash window with 16 lights, flanked by two windows with 12 lights each. The remainder of the elevation has a four-window range of double-hung sashes, each with 12 lights. The building is adorned with a plain string course, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. Most windows date from the early 19th century, except for some early 18th-century sashes located on the first floor of the southeast elevation. The service wing consists of two parts, with red brick elevations to the southwest and northwest, and stucco on the northeast, all topped with hipped roofs.
