Description

Roseland's Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 16th century, with an extension added in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame that is mainly plastered, with some areas clad in painted red brick arranged in Flemish bond. The roof is covered with handmade red clay tiles and slate. The house has four bays facing south, with an axial stack located one bay from the right end and an 18th or 19th-century external stack at the right end. The early 19th-century extension at the rear of the left end consists of three bays and includes an axial stack, with an additional extension at the rear angle that has a catslide roof. The building is two storeys high.

On the south elevation, there is a three-window range of 20th-century casements, along with a four-panel door featuring glazed upper panels, set within a 20th-century gabled porch. The lower storey of this elevation is clad in painted brick. The west elevation, which faces the road, has one sash window with 12 lights and another with 16 lights on each floor, all dating from the early 19th century and made with crown glass. There is also a four-panel door in a timber-framed gabled porch, and the roof is low-pitched and covered with slate.

Inside the original section of the house, there are chamfered axial and transverse beams, jowled posts, cambered tiebeams with one exposed arched brace, and a crownpost roof with axial braces. The south wall has been raised approximately 0.50 metre.
