Description
King's Croft is an 18th-century house that has been altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered and weatherboarded, topped with a thatched roof. The house has four bays facing southeast and includes an internal stack located one bay from the left end against the front wall. At the right end, there is a 20th-century crosswing that creates a T-plan layout. The building is one storey high with attics and has three 19th or 20th-century casement windows, along with two additional casements in eyebrow dormers. The dado is weatherboarded, while the area above is plastered. The roof is gambrel-shaped and half-hipped at the left end. On the southwest elevation, which is the left return facing the road, there is one 19th-century horizontally sliding sash window with four lights and one 20th-century casement window above it. Two transverse beams project through the rear wall. Inside, the house features exposed studding with primary straight bracing, partly exposed lower rafters, and a large wood-burning hearth that faces to the right.
