No. 40 Queen Street is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations that include a small barn from the 17th century. The building is timber framed and has panel pargetting. It features red plain tiled roofs, with a gable crosswing facing the road and incorporating the barn to the west. The cottage is one storey high with attics and has a flat head dormer on the left return.
