Description
Barstable School, formerly known as Barstable Grammar School, is a grammar school built in 1962 by the architects Yorke, Rosenberg and Mardall. The building features a board-marked reinforced concrete frame with blue brick infill and has a flat roof. It has a 'T' shaped plan and consists of a three-storey main wing. The design includes a 'giant order' of board-marked concrete pilotis that stand out from the elevation and extend to the roof level. The façade is characterized by strip windows with concrete floor slabs visible between the storeys, although the original windows have been replaced with white-coated ones. Inside, the school retains original timber and glass partitions on the landings.
