Description

The raised pool and sculpture, completed in 1962, is located in the town square of Basildon, designed by architect Anthony B Davies, who was the chief architect and planner for the Basildon Development Corporation, with consultant adviser Sir Basil Spence. The long rectangular pool features raised granite-clad sides and coping. At the east end of the pool, there is a bronze sculpture titled 'Mother and Child' by Maurice Lambert, which also includes a fountain. The pool serves as a foreground to Brooke House.
