Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with further construction around 1700. It was extended and altered in the 19th century. The house is timber-framed, with roughcast rendering and a tiled roof. It features an original ridge stack and a later projecting stack on the north-east wall. Originally, it comprised a single main range running south-west to north-east, with a north-east crosswing. Additions have been made to the north-west side. The main range has two bays. The two-storey front elevation has two flush frame twelve-pane double-hung sash windows at first floor. A 19th-century canted bay and a similar sash window are at ground floor. The doorway, located between the crosswing and main range, leads to a hall. The north-east crosswing is also of two storeys with an attic. The jettied gable features a dentiled bressumer to the front and 17th-century bargeboards to the rear. A gabled dormer is on the north-east side. Inside, one ground floor room has two large ovolo moulded plaster panels dating from around 1700, along with a moulded wood cornice. A closed string staircase, also dating from around 1700, has 19th-century balusters, except for four symmetrical flat balusters on the top landing. Bolection moulded fielded panelling is present in a first-floor room of the crosswing, arranged in two heights. First-floor rooms in the main range have bolection moulded fireplace surrounds.
