Description
The Old Manse is a manse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century and was extended in the later 19th century. The building is timber-framed and has roughcast render, with red brick stacks at both ends and a ridge stack located to the right of the center. It features a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high with five unequal 'bays', the end bay being a later addition.
The doorway is positioned to the left of center and includes a stone step, a six-panelled door, and a moulded wooden architrave topped with a dentil enriched cornice. On the ground floor, there are four twelve-paned flush-framed hung sash windows, while the first floor has four smaller, similar windows, one of which has a painted blind. The building also has a coved eaves cornice.
Inside, notable features include a closed string staircase with slender newel posts, early 19th-century panelled doors and doorcases, and patterned heads to the glazing bars on one of the first floor windows at the rear elevation.
