Description
65 High Street is an 18th-century house that was extended later in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with plaster rendering and pebble dash on the side walls, a tiled roof, and an original red brick stack positioned at right angles to the ridge. The building has two storeys and an attic, with two mid-19th century hung sash windows on the first floor and two similar windows on the ground floor, one of which is next to a doorway. There is a rear outshut that is contemporary with one room and was extended across the other bay in the late 18th century, featuring a red brick lean-to roof. To the northeast end, there is a shop dating from around 1900 with original glazing bars. Inside, the house contains original abutting inglenook fireplaces, one of which is sealed, as well as stop-chamfered joists, a main beam, and an original newel staircase located on the north side of the chimney.
