Description
North Road Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century with additions and alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame and roughcast render, topped with plain tiled roofs and featuring two red brick chimneys. The main range is two storeys high with an attic, facing east, and there is a later two-storey range at the rear that forms an L-shape, with 19th-century outshuts in the angle to the north. The building was refronted and remodelled in the late 19th century. The main entrance facade faces south and includes two canted bay windows flanking a four-panelled door, which has a rectangular fanlight above it, covered by a hipped pent roof. To the left of the door is a sixteen-paned hung sash window. On the first floor, there are two casement windows and one attic casement window. Inside, there is one quarter-round moulded beam, some exposed timber framing, sealed hearths, and doors from the 18th and 19th centuries.
