Description

Dean Cottage is a pair of cottages located on the north side of West Wickham Road, with No 3 (Dean Cottage) and No 5. The cottages date from the 18th century, with alterations in the 19th century. They are timber framed and covered in gault brick and flint. The roofs are plain tiled, featuring a red brick axial ridge stack and a gable end stack on the north side. The buildings are one storey high with an attic, and the roof of No 3 was raised in the 19th century.

The west elevation includes an entrance doorway to No 3, which is set in a modern lean-to porch, while No 5 has a boarded door. No 3 has two gabled dormer windows and four ground floor windows of various sizes. Inside No 5, there are stop-chamfered ceiling beams, an open hearth with a baking oven, an 18th-century staircase, and panelled doors.
