Description
No. 32 High Street is a house dating from around 1770. It features a timber-framed structure with a roughcast rendered front wall, a plaster rendered rear wall, and a steeply pitched tiled roof with two internal stacks. The building has two unequal bays on either side of a central hall and stair bay, standing two storeys high with an attic. The front includes three 19th-century flush frame hung sashes with margin lights, which are aligned with the eaves, and there are two similar hung sashes on either side of the doorway. Inside, the layout consists of two bays flanking a narrower hall bay, with some framing exposed in the front wall. At the rear, there is a contemporary lean-to dairy and kitchen. Notably, in 1842, the house was known as The Spotted Dog Public House.
