Description
Shardelows Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 16th to 18th centuries. It is timber-framed and rendered, featuring a tiled roof with some slate and a red brick ridge stack from the 16th to 17th centuries, which has a few diagonally set grouped shafts. There is also a 19th-century stack with two diagonally set shafts located at the rear of the crosswing. The building has a hall with a crosswing at the west end and has been extended on the east and north sides. It is two storeys high with an attic.
The southwest front includes a large gabled dormer from the 19th century above two tripartite hung sash windows. The doorway, also from the 19th century, features a narrow hood supported by cut brackets. The crosswing is two storeys tall and has 19th-century fenestration with one tripartite hung sash window on each storey. The east end of the crosswing was extended in the 18th century, and there is a 19th-century extension at the rear of the crosswing.
Inside, there are abutting inglebook hearths, stop-chamfered beams, and an 18th-century cupboard. Additionally, there are two plank doors with strap hinges.
