Description

Lena is a cottage and shop, dating from the 17th century, with alterations and rebuilding in the 19th century and around 1938. Originally three cottages and a shop, it is now two cottages. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. It has a 20th-century brick plinth, a gault brick ridge stack to the left, and a red brick rectangular ridge stack to the right. The building is one storey high, with two boarded doors and four casement windows featuring glazing bars. The interior reveals some exposed posts with curved braces to cambered tie beams. These cottages, including numbers 46, 48, and 50, were originally Charity Cottages. A report from 1949 (RCHM Report 1949) documents the building.
