Description

Tinniswood is a house dating from around 1600. It is timber framed and has a plaster-rendered exterior. The roof is covered with combed wheat reed thatch and is hipped at the crosswings, with an original red brick and plastered ridge stack serving the hall. This is a double-ended hall house with crosswings that project only on the south side. The hall has one storey and an attic, featuring a gable dormer on the south side, along with a modern casement window and doorway. The crosswings are two storeys high and have two small modern windows, which may be in original openings at each end. Inside, the hall range consists of three bays, including a narrower chimney bay. The main beams are intersecting and feature leaf stop chamfers, with arch-braced tie beams and jowled heads on the main posts.
