Description
No. 11 Church End is a cottage that dates from the 18th to 19th century. It features a timber frame with sections that are plastered and roughcast rendered. The cottage has a plain tiled roof from the 19th century and a red brick chimney that projects from the southwest side wall. It is situated at the end of the road and has two storeys, with one casement window on each storey facing the road, along with a doorway. The northeast wall has a leaded light casement window from the 18th to 19th century on the first floor, and a boarded door with a narrow hood supported by square brackets. Historical records indicate that in 1602, a house on this site was known as the Town and was owned by the Overseers of the Poor, but by 1701 it was in a state of decay. The cottage is marked as the Town House in the 1848 Enclosure Award Report. It is included for its group value.
