Description

This is an undershot watermill, dating from the mid to late 18th century and restored in the mid to late 20th century. It has been converted into a house. The mill is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding, set upon a brick plinth, with a tiled mansard roof. The building is two storeys and has an attic. The front elevation features three casement windows on each of the first and ground floors, with a doorway in the centre bay. The rear wall has larger window openings and three dormers. Most of the original mill machinery has been removed, although the waterwheel and pit wheel remain at the east end, partially enclosed. A single-storey brick wing is located at the west end, constructed using reused old bricks. The site has a historical association with a village brewery and beer shop, which were located next to the mill in 1840.
