Description
This is an early to mid-18th century house located on the High Street in Linton. Originally part of a larger group value listing with numbers 76 and 78, it was listed individually in 1967. The house is timber-framed with plaster and painted brick, and has a plain tiled roof. A stack and parapet gable are on the left-hand side. It is two storeys high with attic rooms and a cellar. The eaves have a wooden cornice with six fire rings. There is a brick band separating the floors, and a brick plinth at the base. The main entrance was likely moved in the 19th century. The left-hand side now has a large 20th-century shop window with glazing bars, replacing an earlier window. To the right of the recessed six-panelled door is a fixed four-paned window. The rear elevation still retains one original 18th-century cross-framed casement window. There are two hipped dormer windows in the roof. Inside, there are 18th-century cupboard doors and panelling around the chimney in the east-facing rooms on both floors. Original 18th-century window seats are present, along with some original 18th-century doors, comparable to those at The Manor House, Green Lane.
