Description

113 and 115 Ermine Way are a pair of late 18th-century houses located on the west side of Ermine Way in Arrington. They are constructed of red brick with burnt brick headers and feature a timber-framed outshut at the rear. The houses have a hipped, plain tiled roof with a red brick ridge stack, an end stack, and an internal stack on the west side.

Each house is two storeys high with an attic and includes two pedimented dormers. The first floor has a range of six casement windows in original openings with flat, clear red brick arches, one of which is an original leaded light casement. At the north end, there is a first-floor canted oriel window from the 19th century, situated above a later shop front. The entrance to No 117 features a pedimented doorway on scroll brackets with a moulded architrave.

On the ground floor, there are three windows in original openings, although the sills of two have been lowered. The timber-framed and plastered outshuts date from the same period as the main house and include two stair turrets. Originally, No 115 was separated from No 117 by a carriage entrance, which has since been built up. Inside, the houses have been modernised but still retain the original staircase, which features a moulded top newel post with diagonal cross bracing as balusters.
