Description
The Little Gransden War Memorial is a First World War memorial, unveiled around 1920, with additions for the Second World War. It is made of stone and has a rectangular plan.
Located at the entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, approximately 28 meters to the north-west of the north porch, the memorial features a single-step base, a trapezoidal plinth, and a shaft that tapers in rectangular section to a Celtic wheel-head cross adorned with interlace ornament. The north-west face of the plinth displays the First World War dedication, inscribed with the words 'REMEMBER BEFORE GOD OUR / MEN WHO HAVE LAID DOWN THEIR / LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE / GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918', along with the names of five men who died. The south-west face of the plinth bears the Second World War dedication, reading '1939 - 1945', with the names of two men who died inscribed below.
