Description

The Grange is a house that was originally a farmhouse, along with an attached garden wall to the north and a garden building. It dates from the early to mid-18th century, with a 17th-century wing and 19th-century alterations. The structure is built of red brick featuring patterned and chequered decoration made from burnt brick. It has timber framing and plastering with a brick plinth, and the roofs are plain tiled.

The house is two storeys with attics, and there is also a one-storey section with an attic. The main east-west range is from the early 18th century, with entrances facing north and south, and a late 18th-century cross range to the west, along with a 17th-century wing to the east. The east facade has five equal bays with pilastered brick quoins, as well as facade and gable parapets topped with plain stone copings and a moulded cornice. There are gable end stacks and two rear stacks. The ground floor and first floor each have five recessed twelve-paned hung sash windows, which feature fanned key blocks above flat arches. Three hipped dormer windows, originally hidden behind the parapet, have been reduced in height. The brickwork is scratched with 'WH 1764'.

Additionally, there is a red brick 18th-century garden boundary wall with brick coping, along with a garden house designed in a pavilion style.
