Description

North Brook End Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage, with alterations from the late 17th century and an early 18th-century addition; it was renovated and extended in the 20th century. The cottage is timber-framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. It has a red brick ridge stack and an end stack to the east. Originally possibly single-storey, the plan consists of three units extended by one bay to the east gable. A 20th-century closed porch fronts the entrance, and there are four windows with multi-paned glazing bars of varying sizes. The interior reveals the timber frame and floor frames. There are open hearths, two back to back; one has a pair of niches and an open hearth to the east room. A 19th-century fixed bench sits beside the hearth in the west room.
