Description

This is a late 16th-century manor house. Originally a three-unit plan with a lobby entry and an original outshut to the rear containing three service rooms, it was later extended to the west with a two-bay addition in the 17th century to create a granary and cheese room. The building is timber framed with roughcast render and plain tile roofs. It features a large ridge stack and a 19th-century stack to the west. The house has two storeys, with four first-floor casement windows and three ground-floor windows. One of the ground-floor windows is a three-light hung sash window with glazing bars. The main entrance has a 19th-century panelled door, and the granary has a boarded door.

Inside, there is a large cooking hearth with a baking oven and a sealed inglenook housing 18th-century cupboards. The hall has five moulded ceiling beams, along with other stop-chamfered beams. The roof is a good example, featuring a side purlin roof with curved wind braces in each bay, and a butt-purlin roof in the granary. The cheese room contains pegs in situ for shelves. A door has distinctive cock's head hinges.
