Description
Ivy House is a red brick farmhouse dated 1688, located on the south side of High Street in Spaldwick. It features a plain tile, hipped roof and has a symmetrical facade with three bays, along with two rear wings and a separate kitchen now included in the building. The house is two storeys high and has brick bands on the side facades between the floors. Tall plastered pilasters are present at the building angles and flanking the central doorway and first-floor window. The windows on both levels have plaster surrounds with modern casements. The central doorway is topped by a triangular plastered pediment with the initials PD, and it features a modern plank door and a rectangular fanlight. At the rear, there are two large brick stacks that have been rebuilt. Inside, the house retains its original staircase with turned balusters and ball-finials on the square newels, along with exposed ceiling beams and some 17th-century panelled doors.
