Description
No. 12 Bridge Street is a pair of buildings with distinct architectural features. The northern building dates from the early 18th century and is two storeys tall with attics. It is constructed of brick and has a modern tile roof, a moulded eaves cornice, and five windows with segmental heads and glazing bars. It also features three flat-topped dormers and a modern shop front.
The southern building, dating from around 1720, is three storeys high and made of red brick with rubbed brick dressings. Its shop front continues from that of the northern building. The upper part of this building has pilasters at both ends, a moulded and dentilled brick cornice beneath a panelled parapet, and a moulded band at the second floor level. It has three windows with segmental heads, except for the middle window on the second floor, which has a semi-elliptical head. The windows have later sashes without glazing bars.
Nos. 6 to 28 (even) form a group with this building.
