Description
Nos. 215 and 217 on Main Street are two dwellings that were formerly one house, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations from the late 18th century and 19th century. The building is constructed of painted and plastered red brick and features a 20th-century ridge tiled roof. It stands two storeys high with attics, and has a ridge stack and end stacks that have been reduced. The gables have tumbled parapets and a moulded wooden eaves cornice that is decorated with modillions. There is a plastered plinth, a three-course brick band between the floors, and brick giant pilasters at the quoins and central bay. The façade includes two symmetrical recessed blind oval windows. To the left, there is a shop window and a 19th-century four-panelled door, while to the right, there is a six-raised and fielded-panelled door set within a fluted wooden pilastered doorcase, accompanied by a canted bay window with hung sashes. The first floor features three three-light casement windows.
