Description
Brook House is a 16th-century farmhouse that features a timber frame and plastered exterior. It has an original open hall and a three-unit plan. The framed chimney was rebuilt in the 17th century with brick jambs for the hearth, and it was later replaced in red brick during the late 17th or early 18th century. The roof is made of pine and is thatched, dating from the same period. A hall floor was added in the 17th century. The building has one storey and an attic, with three gabled dormers that contain casement windows with glazing bars. There are three larger ground floor windows, also with glazing bars, and a modern oak door. Inside, there is one inglenook hearth and a smaller 18th-century hearth, along with stop-chamfered ceiling beams.
